Chiropractic for Sports Performance and Injury

We believe that if one feels better than they will be able to play and function better as well. Since athletes put a tremendous amount of stress on their active bodies, strucural problems such as restricted joints, tight muscles, limited flexibility, and faulty movement patterns are very common findings. By balancing the musculoskeletal system, chiropractic care aids in reducing the potential problems most athletes face. Additionally, normal joint function, normal muscle contraction and normal body position sense are also achieved through regular chiropractic care.  When the body is in better alignment, the nervous system is finely tuned, which means everything is working properly. This leads to better performance, fewer injuries and quicker recovery. We know that every athlete is unique, and we understand and acknowledge that. We also understand the importance of returning back to full activity and the need for an athlete to keep training.

Chiropractic for Auto/Work Injury

At Chattanooga Performance Chiropractic and Acupuncture, we have plenty of experience dealing withautomobile, personal injury, and workers' compensation injury accidents. Chiropractic care is the most effective treatment for these types of injuries.  Accidents and injuries, although unavoidable, much of the pain and suffering caused by traumatic injuries can, in many cases, be avoided with chiropractic care. Chiropractic care can greatly reduce or totally eliminate problems associated with accidents and injuries safely, quickly and without drugs or surgery. For millions of people, a chiropractic adjustment has made all the difference.

Workers' compensation -- a number of workers' compensation studies have shown chiropractic care to be superior to medical care in the treatment of on the job back injuries. Chiropractors have been able to get their patients out of pain and back to work faster and with lower treatment costs. We specialize in personal injury and workers' compensation and can handle all of the paperwork.

Chiropractic for a Healthier Pregnancy

During pregnancy your body produces hormones to relax your ligaments; without these, your baby's head would never be able to fit through your pelvis. But those hormones, combined with your gorgeously swollen belly, can leave you loose-limbed, sway-backed, and unusually clumsy, due to a rapidly lowering center of gravity (Look out below!) All of this can do quite a number on your spine.

Chiropractic for Newborns and Children

A child encounters many physical stresses during their growing years. The resulting problems in children’s spines can occur at almost any point in their development and growth.

The earliest challenge a growing spine faces is the position it is forced to adopt in utero. Many women will have heard of foetal positions that can cause problems with labour (brow, breech, transverse, posterior, ascynclitic, etc). What is less well known is that these foetal positions can also cause problems in the baby’s spine as well. Spinal segments can be pushed out of place or jammed by the position of the baby in the womb. If this position is less than optimal, it can result in a longer and more difficult trip through the birth canal, which can compound the spinal problems. In this way, even natural birthing methods can stress an infant’s spine and nervous system—not to mention interventions such as induction, forceps, vonteuse suction, or ceasarean section. The latter (which account for an alarmingly large percentage of births in Australia), while appear to offer a less traumatic birth for the child, can actually create additional traumas and compromises to the infant’s future health and well-being.

The cause of many newborn health complaints such as colic, reflux, breastfeeding difficulties, sleep disturbances, allergic reactions, and chronic infections can often be traced to nervous system irritation caused by spinal and cranial misalignments.

Since significant spinal trauma can occur at, or prior to birth, many parents elect to have their newborn’s spine checked right after birth. Many developmental milestones such as learning to hold up the head, sitting upright, crawling, and walking are all activities that are affected by spinal alignment and are important times to have a child checked by a chiropractor. Additionally, falls, sports injuries, playground bumps, heavy school bags and sitting all day in the classroom are all physical stresses to the growing child’s spine and nervous system.
